Danville's First Annual Battle of the Bands

If you were present at the Fall Arts and Crafts Festival in Danville on September 7th, you probably heard Danville’s first annual Battle of the Bands competition, hosted by G.S. Woods Financial Solutions LLC and Rockstar Realtor, Greg Sauers Jr. All proceeds from the event benefitted the Danville Centennial Lions Club and grossed nearly $1,000 for charity.

The Danville Centennial Lions serve. It’s that simple, and it has been since we first began in 1917. Our clubs are places where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improving their communities, and the world. The local club consists of a group of volunteers who serve our community, to meet humanitarian needs. They support foster children, childhood cancer research, food security, and Ever since Helen Keller inspired the lions to champion the cause in 1925, they’ve served and advocated for the blind and visually impaired. Nearly a century later, this long-standing mission continues unhindered.

Supporting the community, listening to great music, and a beautiful fall day made for a wonderful event!

The six bands that played from morning to late afternoon were all professional, top-notch, and each brought a unique sound to the festival. First up was Broken Vinyl from Shamokin Dam with a rock/alternative sound, playing some popular songs for the crowd. Moonlicker from Selinsgrove and Muncy was the second band to play, sharing their talent in jam band blues. The acoustic duo from Williamsport that brought a country/classic rock sound was West Coast. The People’s Choice champion was Leo & KG with Family Tradition, playing country rock blues, and was a clear crowd favorite. Next up was The Poetic Outlaws, playing rock/alternative world music. Last band to play was Mums the Word, sharing blues style music with the crowd. Mums the Word prevailed as the Battle of the Bands champion, wowing the judges and the crowd with their energy and obvious talent.

G.S. Woods Financial Solutions LLC and Rockstar Realtor Greg Sauers Jr. would like to thank the numerous sponsors that helped make the Battle of the Bands possible: Merle Norman, Klein Artworks, Hometown Abstract & Real Estate Services Inc., First Columbia Bank & Trust Co., KidsPeace Organization, Stetler Insurance, Bear Rental, Scott’s Floral, BJ’s Main Street Tavern and Oyster Bar, and Boil Line Coffee.
