Volunteer This Holiday Season!

In a season of giving gifts, how can you be generous without breaking the bank? It’s simple – volunteering your time. It’s an incredibly valuable gift that keeps on giving. As an active volunteer myself, I know just how time-consuming & difficult it may appear, but the feel-good benefits far outweigh these little concerns.

  1. Food Banks or Soup Kitchens – if you’re a first class cook or love meeting new people, this is an awesome chance to spread the holiday spirit.
  2. Toy Drives – The Marines Toys for Tots is a wonderful organization that always looks to collect toys for local children who don’t usually receive presents. Have an extra unwrapped toy just laying around? Donate it today!
  3. Clothing Drives – if you happen to be cleaning out your closet this season, consider donating old jackets, scarves, hats and gloves to a local clothing drive. Especially here in the North East these articles of clothing are always amazing gifts.
  4. Visiting a Nursing Home – there are many elderly individuals who live in an assisted living home far away from their family. Be that sibling or grandchild for a day & share your holiday time with a nursing home resident.

There’s a cause out there for everyone regardless of background, personality, or interests & no shortage of opportunities to be a volunteer. Especially during the holiday season, you can get that warm & fuzzy feeling from volunteering without breaking the bank.
