Like most of the country, I have been self-quarantined at home for over a month in order to flatten the curve and practice proper social distancing. However, there’s no reason you should still support local businesses at a time like this. While many are closed, the ones that are still open have found many ways to provide for their customers while staying safe! You might think of a classic, taking out from restaurants, but here are some other ideas & ways to support your local businesses:
Doing some home repairs? Try ordering everything you need from a local home improvement store. Since being at home I have repainted my bathroom and bedroom, put in new shelving units & built a bookshelf – all with supplies I bought & had delivered from a local shop!
Have pets? Purchase toys, food or other supplies you may need from a local pet store. Lots of families are getting new pets during this time since they bring so much joy, and people have the time for them now. Provide for them as well as your local economy!
Looking for a good read? My library here is closed, but luckily our local bookstore was open for delivery! I went online to find the book I wanted, paid over the phone and it was dropped off in my mailbox. Simple, easy, and now I have a great new book.
Hungry? Take out from your local restaurant it is. This may seem like an obvious one, but check to see if places like your local fire department, church, or other organizations who thrive on community involvement are holding cookouts with takeaway. Now more than ever these community-driven locations need your support.
Quarantine may seem daunting, but it is what you make it! Find peace in this time of chaos by supporting your communities – they will be grateful, and you may even have fun! On behalf of G.S. Woods Financial Solutions, LLC – stay socially distant and healthy, everyone!
